On Sunday, Ruben Amorim made his managerial debut for Manchester United in a 1-1 draw against Ipswich Town at Portman Road.
United displayed moments of tidy passing and stretches of possession but struggled to pose a significant threat in front of goal, matching Ipswich with 11 shots apiece.
While Amorim’s players may need time to adapt to his tactical approach, one standout performer was Amad Diallo, who seamlessly integrated into the manager’s preferred 3-4-3 formation.
Starting as the right wing-back, Amad made an immediate impact. Early in the game, he combined beautifully with Bruno Fernandes in a quick one-two, setting up Marcus Rashford with a precise through ball. Rashford capitalized, calmly slotting the ball into the net to give United the lead within the first 90 seconds.
Later in the first half, Amad nearly provided another assist. Sprinting up the right wing, he skillfully outmaneuvered his marker before delivering a clever pass back to Christian Eriksen on the edge of the box. Unfortunately, Eriksen’s shot narrowly missed the target, leaving United unable to extend their lead.
Amad also made two attempts, one of which was blocked and the other on target.
Amad made five clearances while tracking back in defense, demonstrating a respectable level of focus.
