The Real Madrid season is not over despite Vinicius Junior’s injury.
Real Madrid has suffered a serious setback with the loss of Vinícius Júnior, but the defending Spanish and European champions are accustomed to performing well under pressure. In addition to Kylian Mbappé’s difficulties, Real Madrid’s escalating injury crisis has taken center stage in the first few months of the 2024–25 campaign. Jude Bellingham played one La Liga game in August before missing the following month, while Eduardo Camavinga missed the first two months of the season. Following the season-ending ACL injuries to Dani Carvajal and Éder Militão, Carlo Ancelotti’s backline was left entirely vulnerable. While Brahim Díaz, Dani Ceballos, and Lucas Vázquez dealt with their own problems, Mbappé was also temporarily sidelined due to a thigh issue. Thibaut Courtois has participated in three of Real Madrid’s previous eight games, while Rodrygo has been in and out of the hospital. Due to an ankle injury, even Aurélien Tchouaméni is not able to play. One of the few things that remained consistent in Ancelotti’s constantly shifting lineups and formations was Vinícius Júnior. With 12 goals and five assists in all competitions, the Brazilian is the team’s top scorer and has played in all 18 of Real Madrid’s games this season. The best player for Los Blancos is now the most recent member of Ancelotti’s team to sustain an injury, which feels like a cruel turn of events for Madrid supporters.
