Bellingham wins big prize
Midfielder Jude Bellingham was honoured after an impressive 2023/24 season with Real Madrid.
At the Premios AFE (Spanish Football Players’ Association) awards ceremony on November 25, Bellingham won the title of Best Player of the 2023/24 season after scoring 19 goals and providing 6 assists in 28 games for Real Madrid.
Speaking on the club’s homepage, Bellingham shared: “Thank you for voting for me as the AFE player of the season, I am very proud of this.”
In addition to the above title, Bellingham also received many other prestigious awards in the past year, including the Laureus Award for Breakthrough Player of the Year 2024 and the Golden Boy Award 2023, honoring the best player under the age of 21 in Europe. This shows the recognition of Bellingham’s outstanding talent in the past year.
Moving from Dortmund to Real Madrid in the summer of 2023 for a fee of more than 100 million euros, Bellingham quickly proved his ability and became an important part of coach Carlo Ancelotti’s squad. The English midfielder not only scored but also created good assists, helping Real Madrid win the La Liga and Champions League double last season.
In the 2024/25 season, Bellingham no longer maintained his impressive scoring ability. The appearance Kylian Mbappe’s presence has forced the England midfielder to drop deeper and take on more responsibility for playmaking. He has scored just two goals in all competitions this season, all in La Liga. Bellingham has only one assist in the Champions League.
