Aurelien Tchouameni and his million-dollar empire in France

The French midfielder joined Real Madrid in the summer of 2022. He was quickly promoted to become a mainstay in the midfield after Casemiro moved to Manchester United. However, the player has recently been a big disappointment.

In Real Madrid’s 1-3 defeat to AC Milan in the Champions League in the early morning of November 6, Tchouameni was directly at fault for both of the team’s first two goals. In the opening goal, he jumped up to superficially, creating an opportunity for Malick Thiaw to poke past Andriy Lunin.

In the second goal, Tchouameni passed inaccurately, then closed in loosely, allowing Rafael Leao to easily finish. This situation led to Morata taking advantage of the rebound and scoring. Coach Ancelotti quickly replaced Tchouameni after the first half. Madridistas were disappointed and whistled at the player.

Statistics show that Tchouameni did not meet expectations in both the Champions League and La Liga. In the match against Milan, he only had 3 recoveries after 45 minutes of play. In 4 matches in the Champions League this season, he only had 10 recoveries, behind 227 other players. In La Liga, Tchouameni had 44 recoveries, far behind Valverde – Real Madrid’s leading player with 63.

Coach Ancelotti expressed concerns about the balance and strength of the squad: “We have to find a way to balance and play more solidly”.

In the match against Osasuna in La Liga on November 9, Ancelotti may have to make an important decision: bench Tchouameni. This is a clear message for the French midfielder to improve his form.

With serious problems in his playing style and performance not as expected, Tchouameni must quickly turn things around if he does not want to be eliminated from Real Madrid’s long-term plans.
