Manchester United suffered their second straight defeat under new coach Ruben Amorim, losing 3-2 to Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford.
Despite a goal from Bruno Fernandes that gave United hope, a costly mistake from goalkeeper Andre Onana proved pivotal. Onana failed to save a straightforward shot from Morgan Gibbs-White early in the second half, allowing Forest to take a 2-1 lead.
Amorim stood by Onana, saying, “He has saved us many times, so we need to find a way to turn things around and score more goals to support our goalkeeper.” He acknowledged the team’s struggles, emphasizing that much work remains: “It’s a huge task. We have a lot to improve.”
Rasmus Hojlund, who scored United’s first goal, also reflected on the need for improvement, especially regarding corners: “We need to do better, especially with set-pieces. We’ve conceded too much, but I’m confident we’ll improve. There are still many games left; it’s not ideal, but we have to stay positive.”
On the other hand, Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espírito Santo was pleased with his team’s performance, particularly their early goal: “Scoring first changes everything. We knew United would react, but it was about sticking together and working hard. We were brave, especially early in the second half.”
