Marcus Rashford graces the cover of Vogue, where the Manchester United star opens up about his charitable efforts

MARCUS RASHFORD will grace the cover of Vogue’s ‘Activism Now’ issue in September.

The Manchester United star’s campaign for free school meals led to a significant policy change by the UK government. Rashford successfully convinced the government to provide £15-a-week food vouchers to disadvantaged children during the summer months.

Additionally, to support schoolchildren affected by the coronavirus pandemic, the England international donated £20 million to the cause.

Rashford’s selection for the cover reflects his dedication to activism off the field. He will appear alongside Adwoa Aboah, a model and mental health advocate, with photographs taken by Misan Harriman, who made history as the first black male photographer to shoot a Vogue cover in the magazine’s 104-year history.

In an interview with Vogue, Rashford shared the motivation behind his charitable efforts. “I’m not a politician, but I had a voice and a platform that I could use to ask important questions,” he explained. “If I didn’t stand up and say, ‘This isn’t right, it needs to change,’ I would have failed my 10-year-old self.”

He continued, “As an athlete, failure is part of everyday life. You lose a game, you bounce back for the next one. You lose in a cup final, you come back stronger next season.”
