Jaren Jackson Jr. contributed 27 points and nine rebounds for the Grizzlies, who earned their first win at TD Garden since November 27, 2013. Memphis has now won eight of their last nine games.
Jrue Holiday led the Celtics with 23 points, while Jaylen Brown and Payton Pritchard each added 22. Boston struggled from beyond the arc, shooting just 18-of-60 on 3-pointers.
After erasing a 14-point third-quarter deficit to take a 97-94 lead early in the fourth, the Celtics were outlasted by the Grizzlies. Memphis responded with a strong rally, pulling ahead 117-115 with under four minutes remaining. A decisive 7-0 run pushed their lead to 124-115, sealing the victory.
Marcus Smart, returning to TD Garden for the first time since being traded to Memphis in the 2023 three-team deal that brought Kristaps Porziņģis to Boston, played 19 minutes but struggled offensively, shooting 1-of-11 and finishing with three points.
