Ja Morant, the NBA star who has chosen not to dunk, stated, ‘People think I’m joking, but I’m completely serious’

Ja Morant, star of the Grizzlies and one of the most spectacular players in the NBA, has announced that he is going to try to stop dunking to take care of his health.

“I’m really going to try to avoid any more dunks… People may think I’m joking, but I’m completely serious,” the gravity-defying Morant told Tim MacMahon of ESPN.

The Grizzlies star explained to the media that his high-flying dunks pose significant risks to his health: “Sometimes I get hit while I’m in the air and they don’t call a foul. Other times, they do call a foul… but I still end up hitting the floor, and after the game, you can definitely feel that fall.”

“So, I just make the choice. Two points is two points, and that’s what matters,” said Ja Morant, who has only attempted four dunks in 12 games this season. Despite being just 1.88m tall and weighing 79 kilos, Morant is considered one of the most dazzling dunkers in the NBA today. However, he has faced criticism in some games for opting to lay the ball in gently instead of going for a powerful dunk.
