Just as he regained his scoring form, Mbappé is sidelined again due to injury

Kylian Mbappe opened the scoring for Real Madrid against Atalanta in the Champions League on Matchday 6, but his game ended early when he was substituted with an injury. “Mbappe has a pain in his hamstring. It doesn’t look serious but we’ll see tomorrow,” coach Carlo Ancelotti said after Tuesday’s game. “He can’t sprint, the injury hurts him a little bit and we thought it was best to take him off.”

The discomfort in his thigh has now been confirmed to be an injury following a medical report released by the club on Thursday afternoon. “Following tests carried out on Kylian Mbappe today by the Real Madrid medical department, the player has been diagnosed with a thigh injury in his left leg. His progress will be monitored,” a statement from Real Madrid said.

According to COPE and Onda Cero, Mbappe will be out for around 10 days to fully recover, so he will not be able to play in Saturday’s Liga match against Rayo Vallecano.

However, Mbappe is also a doubt for Los Blancos’ next match when they face the winner of the Pachuca-Al Ahly match on December 18 in the FIFA Intercontinental Cup.

Before leaving the pitch, the 25-year-old Frenchman had one of his best appearances for Madrid since joining last summer from Paris Saint-Germain, creating three clear-cut chances, including one in the second minute.

He scored his 50th career Champions League goal and his 12th since joining Real Madrid.

Carlo Ancelotti has started Mbappe in 22 games so far this campaign, he is not used to rotating the French star and will have to find a solution for the upcoming outings.
