A 3-3 draw with Rayo Vallecano has left Real Madrid furious, with the club considering legal action to defend their rights.
Real Madrid are furious after a disappointing 3-3 draw with Rayo Vallecano in La Liga, where they felt referee Juan Martínez Munuera robbed them of a chance to win. In particular, the club could not ignore a controversial incident in the second half, when Vinicius Junior was fouled in the box but was not awarded a penalty.
Not only that, but the VAR system did not intervene in the incident, despite it clearly being a foul that should have been dealt with.
Faced with defeat in the title race, having missed out on the chance to take the top spot in La Liga, Real Madrid are considering filing a complaint against the referee to the Spanish Football Federation and the referees’ committee.
The club believes that the decision was not a simple error, but a deliberate act aimed at harming their team.
Real Madrid were unable to take all three points in this match as they fell 2-0 behind to Rayo Vallecano, but the team managed to draw 2-2 thanks to goals from Valverde and Jude Bellingham. After the break, Rodrygo put Real ahead 3-2, but just eight minutes later, Isi Palazon equalized. After that, coach Ancelotti’s team could not score any more goals, ending the match in a 3-3 draw.
However, the most notable incident occurred in the 75th minute, when Vinicius Junior was fouled by Rayo Vallecano defender Mumin in the penalty area, but the referee did not award a penalty. Not only that, although the incident was clearly recorded on video, VAR did not intervene to correct the mistake. This made Real Madrid feel indignant and believe that the referee had “robbed” them of victory.
Coach Carlo Ancelotti also expressed his disappointment in the post-match press conference. He affirmed: “It was a very clear penalty. I don’t understand why the referee didn’t make this decision, and VAR didn’t intervene either.”
Ancelotti believes that the lack of a clear decision greatly affected the match’s outcome, especially when Real Madrid really needed 3 points to continue competing for the top spot with Barcelona.
