Alejandro Garnacho has come under scrutiny from his Argentina teammate Angel Di Maria for idolizing Cristiano Ronaldo instead of Lionel Messi. The former Manchester United midfielder criticized Garnacho for emulating Ronaldo rather than drawing inspiration from Messi.

Di Maria, one of the few players to have shared a dressing room with both Ronaldo and Messi, made his preference clear when he notably excluded Ronaldo from his ‘all-time teammate XI’ during a recent interview.

While Di Maria’s loyalty firmly lies with the Argentine national team and its captain, Garnacho seems to hold a differing view.

The Manchester United winger’s admiration for Ronaldo is no secret. He celebrated his first Europa League goal for United by mimicking Ronaldo’s iconic celebration alongside the Portuguese star.

Garnacho also paid tribute to Ronaldo’s legacy during one of the Premier League’s most memorable goals, performing the legendary ‘Siu’ celebration at Goodison Park following a spectacular bicycle kick.
