Jude Bellingham has just won the IFFHS Best Playmaker award. Beating out some of the greatest playmakers in history, and rightfully so.

Jude Bellingham has just been named best playmaker of 2024 by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics. This is one of the annual awards presented by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics since 2006.

In this year’s vote, Jude Bellingham came in first with an overwhelming score of 133 points, far surpassing the second-placed player, Kevin De Bruyne (96 points).

This is the first time in his career that the English player has won this prestigious award, surpassing many strong candidates such as Lionel Messi, Kevin De Bruyne and Toni Kroos.

With this award, the English star has joined the ranks of the best midfielders ever honored by IFFHS, such as Zinedine Zidane (2006), Luka Modric (2018) and Toni Kroos (2014).

Notably, Argentine star Lionel Messi – the one who dominated this award with 5 titles, a record that every player desires.

IFFHS relies on many criteria to evaluate the best playmaker such as the number of goals, assists, assists leading to wins, vision, technique and versatility in playing style…

In the 2023/24 season, Bellingham played very prominently in the Real Madrid squad when scoring a total of 23 goals and contributing 13 assists in all competitions, with the Royal team winning 2 major titles, La Liga and Champions League.

Although he could not win the Golden Ball and The Best, the English midfielder still finished with a pretty good position in these races.
