Mbappe ‘cold-shouldered’ by seniors in the French national team
Superstar Kylian Mbappe was ignored by the star on the French national team in the vote for the best player in France for the 2023/2024 season.
France Football magazine recently announced the title of best French player for the 2023/2024 season. Accordingly, Kylian Mbappe defeated all other strong candidates to be honored for the fourth time for this noble award after 2018, 2019 and 2023.
However, it is worth noting that the Real Madrid star did not receive votes from Les Bleus’ veterans.
Specifically, according to AS, former French player Karim Benzema did not vote for Mbappe in the vote. Instead, the Al Ittihad star voted for young talents Eduardo Camavinga, Bradley Barcola and Warren Zaire-Emery.
Similar to Benzema, N’Golo Kante also did not choose Mbappe, but preferred to vote for William Saliba, Jules Kounde and Camavinga. Although he did not receive the preference of the two seniors, the former PSG star still surpassed William Saliba, who ranked second in the vote, by five points, winning 56 points compared to 51 points.
As for Mbappe, the 25-year-old player also showed objectivity when choosing his opponent Saliba in the number one position, followed by Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni, two teammates in the current Real Madrid shirt.
In the 2023/2024 season, Mbappe will still be playing for PSG, scoring 44 goals and 10 assists in 48 matches in all competitions, helping the “French Rich Man” win all domestic titles. However, the former Monaco star could not help his team win the Champions League title when they had to stop in the semi-finals against Dortmund.
This season, Mbappe has moved to Real Madrid and has encountered countless difficulties in getting used to the new environment. However, the French superstar still has an impressive scoring record with 12 goals in 22 appearances for Los Blancos.
