Russell Westbrook is embracing his role as a father of three and reflecting on how it shapes his life.
Speaking at the 5th Annual Black Love Summit on Saturday, the 34-year-old Los Angeles Lakers star shared that he is “most proud” of the strong bond he has with his children.
“Being a father is a blessing, and I’m so grateful,” Westbrook said, highlighting that his favorite part of the day is the early morning routine. “The 6:00 a.m. wake-up with my kids is what keeps me going. Taking them to school, picking them up—that’s what keeps me whole.”
Westbrook is a proud dad to 5-year-old son Noah and 3-year-old twin daughters Jordyn and Skye. Reflecting on his journey from his NBA debut in 2008 to now, he noted how much life has evolved over the years and praised his wife, Nina, for her unwavering support.
“Every day brings new changes,” Westbrook said, emphasizing Nina’s “constant sacrifice.” He acknowledged how much she has given to support his career and their family. “A lot of the changes we’ve faced have been centered around me and my career. But she’s been holding everything down from the start. Now, she’s also pursuing her own passions while still being there for me and the kids. I’m just so grateful to have a partner who has sacrificed so much to help us get here.”
In a 2018 YouTube video, Westbrook described fatherhood as his top priority, saying, “Being a dad is more important to me than anything else.” He reaffirmed that sentiment at the summit, stating, “Family is always the most important thing for me, no matter what I do.”
His heartfelt reflections offer a glimpse into how deeply he values his family and the integral role they play in his life.
