Darwin Núñez, a forward for Liverpool, took to social media to share his Christmas wishes, adding a playful jab at Federico Valverde, the Real Madrid midfielder. He posted, “Merry Christmas or Feliz Navidad as my brother Fede Valverde says,” along with a smiling emoji and a Santa Claus emoji. This was a nod to a 2020 video where Valverde attempted to greet in English.

“Hahaha, whenever you’re ready, we can give each other lessons, brother,” Valverde responded.

As Núñez gets ready to play against Leicester City on Thursday, December 26, for the English Boxing Day match, Valverde won’t be back with Real Madrid until Friday, January 3, 2026, when they face Valencia in another LaLiga game.
