Alexander-Arnold would be a perfect fit for Real Madrid

Former striker Gary Lineker believes defender Trent Alexander-Arnold would love to play alongside Jude Bellingham at Real Madrid – where he could achieve great success in his career like many others.

Gary Lineker has weighed in on the debate over Trent Alexander-Arnold’s future at Liverpool, claiming that the defender would be a “perfect fit” for Real Madrid. According to Lineker, a move to the Bernabeu would not only be a new step in his career but also open the door for Alexander-Arnold to reach the pinnacle of his playing career like many others who have chosen to wear the Royal Club shirt.

In his personal opinion, Lineker believes that the Liverpool defender is likely to leave Liverpool for Spain at the end of the 2024/25 season: “It makes perfect sense and is good for Real and Trent. Real Madrid have been signing free transfers recently and Trent would be the missing piece. They would have an excellent right-back, young and with many years of experience.

We can see that there are not many right-backs with Trent’s skills now. I know Liverpool would be very sad and regretful if they lost Trent. This is partly due to their indecision. Of course, Trent will have the final say but I hope he makes the right choice.

Lineker stressed: “They will not criticise his defensive ability like we do, like English football has done. Instead, they will praise his outstanding passing ability and excellent tactical vision.

It is very difficult. How can you say no to Real Madrid? Liverpool are a great club, but finding a new challenge abroad is also very exciting. Playing for Real Madrid or Barcelona is something special that every player desires.”

Liverpool are currently top of the Premier League and Champions League but they still face a major worry as they risk losing Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk when their contracts expire in June 2025.
