Real Madrid Manager Carlo Ancelotti Rҽɱains Silent on the Potential Move for Trent Alexander-Arnold

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti declined to comment on the club’s interest in Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The Champions League holders faced rejection after inquiring about the England right-back’s availability just days ago.

Liverpool is determined to retain the 26-year-old, whose contract expires this summer. A reported second approach from Real Madrid, this time with a firm cash offer around £20 million, is unlikely to change Liverpool’s position.

When asked about potential January signings during a press conference, Ancelotti stated, “It’s difficult for me to address that in this context. We’ll have to wait and see. Our focus is on the upcoming games in January, particularly the match tomorrow against Valencia, and I have nothing more to add. It wouldn’t be wise for me to discuss the transfer market at this moment.”

He added, “I won’t talk about it here; this isn’t the right setting. We will see what happens, but I have a strong squad. We are facing some injuries and challenges, but we can manage.”

When Real Madrid initially reached out, they were informed that Liverpool had no intention of selling Alexander-Arnold and did not wish to discuss the matter further, as the club is fully committed to competing in both the Premier League and Champions League, where they currently lead.

This stance is unlikely to change despite the increased speculation during the January transfer window, especially since the player is now eligible to sign a pre-contract agreement.

In fact, Liverpool is still optimistic about securing a deal that would keep the academy graduate at the club. Talks regarding a new contract with Alexander-Arnold and his representatives—his brother Tyler manages his interests—have been ongoing for several months, and the club has received no indication that Alexander-Arnold wishes to leave.
