Man United ‘line up £40 million Premier League star’ to replace injured Casemiro in January

Manchester United is reportedly considering a move for Wolves midfielder Joao Gomes as a potential replacement for Casemiro. The 23-year-old Brazilian has emerged as a target for United, especially as the club looks to build a younger squad under new manager Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

Casemiro, who is 32, has faced injury challenges this season, missing 16 matches and recently pulling out of the Brazil squad for their upcoming match against England due to fitness issues. Ironically, Gomes could find himself playing in that position at Wembley, potentially earning his first international cap.

According to *The Mirror*, Gomes fits the profile of the kind of player Ratcliffe is interested in, as he seeks to rejuvenate the United squad. Wolves acquired Gomes for £12 million from Flamengo just a year ago but are now expected to demand over £40 million for his services.

Gomes has not only attracted interest from Manchester United but also from Tottenham and Newcastle. In light of pressure to meet Profit and Sustainability Regulations, Wolves are reportedly preparing for bids and have already begun identifying potential replacements.

Known as “The Pitbull” in his home country, Gomes has made 28 appearances this season, scoring two goals. His tenacity and skill on the ball make him a compelling option for United as they look to the future.
