After spending a year sidelined by injury, David Alaba is back with the Real Madrid squad

The Austria international was out for 12 months but has recently resumed training with the group. However, he is not anticipated to see competitive action until later in January.

“I think he will start playing [training] matches next week,” stated Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti. “Around January 20 he will be able to play matches, which will benefit us as well.”

Alaba joined Real Madrid from Bayern Munich in 2021 and celebrated winning the Champions League in his first season when Los Blancos triumphed over Liverpool in the final.

Real Madrid is set to face Mallorca on Thursday, while the other Supercopa semifinal features Barcelona against Athletic Club on Wednesday.
