Andrew Robertson presents a Liverpool jersey to a young fan in appreciation of their foodbank donation

Scotland and Liverpool defender Andrew Robertson expressed his gratitude to a young fan, Alfie Radford, who donated his pocket money to a local foodbank. In a heartfelt gesture, Robertson sent Alfie a signed shirt—not his own, humorously noting that “no-one wants the left-back’s shirt,” but one signed by forward Roberto Firmino instead.

Robertson learned about Alfie’s generous action through Twitter and took the time to write him a letter of thanks. He emphasized that supporting foodbanks is a “cause close to my heart.”

Reflecting on his own experiences, Robertson recalled how, before his 21st birthday in 2015, he had asked friends and family to contribute to a foodbank in lieu of gifts.

In his letter, he praised Alfie for his selflessness:

“I remember being your age and how important pocket money is, with so many things you could have bought for yourself. For you to give that up for people who are having a tough time is absolutely amazing.”

Robertson concluded by assuring Alfie that his teammates would hear about his thoughtful act, stating, “You’ve done LFC proud—your family will be made up with you, I’m sure.”
