Eduardo Camavinga’s journey from a refugee camp in Africa to becoming one of football’s most promising young talents is truly inspiring. Born in 2002 in a refugee camp in Cabinda, Angola, his Congolese parents sought safety from. When he was just two years old, the family moved to France as asylum seekers and settled in the town of Fougères in Brittany.

 

 

 

 

 

Camavinga’s exceptional football skills became evident early in life. He joined the local club AGL-Drapeau Fougères at six, where he thrived despite often playing against older and larger opponents. His remarkable potential caught the attention of Rennes, which signed him to their prestigious youth academy at the age of 11 in 2013.

He quickly progressed through Rennes’ ranks and made his senior team debut in 2018 at just 16 years and 4 months old. Camavinga impressed during preseason matches and became the youngest debutant in the club’s history when he played in a Ligue 1 game in April 2019.

The 2019/2020 season marked a turning point as the talented teenager established himself as a first-team starter, showcasing his technical skills, passing ability, ball-winning prowess, and maturity on the pitch. By the end of the season, he had displaced seasoned internationals from Rennes’ lineup and earned accolades for his outstanding performances.
