Dominik Szoboszlai’s absence is clarified as Ibrahima Konate takes the field for Liverpool against Man Utd

Team news has been confirmed from Anfield as Liverpool hosts Manchester United in the Premier League.

Ibrahima Konate returns to the lineup for Liverpool as they face Manchester United on Sunday afternoon. The French defender has been out since suffering a knee injury late in the 2-0 victory over Real Madrid on November 27 but resumed team training this week.

With Joe Gomez set to miss time due to a hamstring injury sustained during the 5-0 win against West Ham United on December 29, manager Arne Slot has chosen not to include Jarell Quansah as Gomez’s replacement, opting instead for Konate alongside captain Virgil van Dijk.

Dominik Szoboszlai is missing from the squad entirely due to illness, while Curtis Jones will start as the most advanced midfielder, supported by Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch. Harvey Elliott and Wataru Endo will be available as substitutes for the midfield.

Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez are on the bench, with Luis Diaz leading the for Liverpool. Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo will start on the right and left flanks, respectively.

Federico Chiesa returns to the squad after missing the last three matches due to fitness issues. The Italian player appeared as a substitute in the 2-1 victory against Southampton in the Carabao Cup quarter-final on December 18 but has been sidelined since then.
