Marcus Rashford: A tearful journey and a turning point in his Manchester United exit

Marcus Rashford, a star who grew up in the Manchester United academy, is on the verge of saying goodbye to the club after two decades of service.

Since publicly stating his desire to seek “a new challenge” in an interview before Christmas, Marcus Rashford’s future at Manchester United has been unclear. With Ruben Amorim in charge, the possibility of Rashford remaining at Old Trafford seems increasingly remote.

AC Milan, Borussia Dortmund and West Ham have all expressed interest in Rashford, but Manchester United want a permanent transfer rather than a loan

Marcus Rashford, who joined Manchester United at the age of seven, has had his ups and downs during his career at the club. Despite scoring 30 goals last season, his form has dropped significantly this season.

Perhaps the most memorable moment was after the FA Cup win over Manchester City, when Rashford shared a picture of himself in tears on social media, captioned: “People want to know what Manchester United means to me!”

Despite the difficulties, Rashford has always affirmed his love and dedication to the club. However, the relationship between him and the team has become complicated in the context of Manchester United struggling in the bottom half of the Premier League table.

The relationship between Rashford and manager Ruben Amorim is not very good. Internal problems flared up when Rashford was dropped from the squad after off-field incidents.

One of the highlights was his birthday party after a 0-3 loss to Manchester City in November 2023. Then, Rashford continued to be involved in controversy when he went drinking in Belfast and missed training right before the FA Cup match against Newport County.

Internal discipline was applied, but Rashford still faced heavy criticism. Legend Gary Neville once warned: “If you’re not careful, these behaviors can become part of his character.”

Coach Ruben Amorim seems to no longer trust Rashford. In the 0-2 loss to Newcastle, Rashford was on the list but was not put on the field. Amorim frankly shared: “I think for the team. You think for Marcus. When I don’t use him, it’s not because I want to prove anything, it’s simply because I want the team to win the match.”
