Jurgen Klopp has praised Egyptian star Mohamed Salah, declaring him the best forward Liverpool has had in the modern era. Salah’s current contract is set to expire at the end of the season, and the renowned attacker recently indicated that a new deal is “far away” from being finalized.
Klopp, who was at the helm when Salah joined the club from Roma in 2017, has since taken on a new role as Red Bull’s global head of soccer. Despite his new position, he still frequently addresses questions about his time at Liverpool.
During his first official press conference in his new role, Klopp expressed his desire for Salah to remain at the club: “I hope he stays—he’s the biggest striker Liverpool has had in modern times.
“Of course, Liverpool has had other great strikers, but he is a fantastic player, a fantastic human being, and an outstanding athlete. He’s the best ambassador your country (Egypt) could have.
“He excels in all areas, so I sincerely hope he will stay at Liverpool.”
