First thing Brahim Diaz did after scoring is apologize to the fans for missing the chance earlier

Real Madrid got off to a poor start against Las Palmas and conceded a goal in the first minute. Sandro Ramirez crossed for Fabio Silva to Courtois with a one-touch finish. But that was all the visitors could muster in the match.

After conceding an early goal, Real Madrid completely dominated Las Palmas for most of the match. Real Madrid equalised from Mbappe’s penalty spot after several attacking efforts. Rodrygo won the penalty with a tricky dribble down the left flank and then charged into the penalty area.

Mbappe continually tormented the Las Palmas defence with his skillful handling and speed. In the 33rd minute, Mbappe shot powerfully from a distance and the ball found Vazquez, the Real Madrid captain crossed for Brahim Diaz to tap the ball into the Las Palmas net. Just 3 minutes later, Rodrygo flicked the outside of his foot to set up Mbappe to score, completing his double. Mbappe scored his third goal against Las Palmas late in the first half, but the referee ruled the goal out for offside.

In the second half, Real Madrid continued to put tremendous pressure on their opponents’ defense. Rodrygo scored the decisive goal in the 57th minute after a pass from Fran Garcia. Bellingham and Valverde put the ball into the Las Palmas goal in the 75th and 87th minutes, respectively. However, the referee ruled out the goals after consulting VAR.

The victory over Las Palmas helped Real Madrid take the lead in the 2024/2025 La Liga rankings for the first time. Real Madrid is 2 points ahead of Atletico Madrid and 7 points ahead of arch-rivals Barcelona.
