Jones Injured, Liverpool Faces of Squad Loss

Curtis Jones was injured in Liverpool’s Champions League match against Lille, causing fans to worry when the midfielder was forced off early in the second half.

Curtis Jones became a major concern for Liverpool after the match against Lille in the Champions League in the early morning of January 22. Coach Arne Slot started the important match, where Liverpool aimed to top the group to secure a ticket to the round of 16, the 23-year-old midfielder had a very positive start. He left his mark with an accurate assist for Mohamed Salah to score the opening goal.

However, not long after, an problem occurred. Journalist Lewis Steele said that Jones pointed to his right foot and signaled to the coaching staff that he had a problem. Despite being asked to lie on the ground for examination, Jones tried to continue playing for the rest of the first half, creating hope that he could overcome it.

However, all hopes were dashed when manager Slot decided to him at the start of the second half, replacing him with Alexis Mac Allister. The decision suggested that Jones’ injury could be more serious than expected. Notably, this was a match in which Jones was expected to play the full 90 minutes, after only playing 10 minutes against Brentford last weekend.

Jones has faced many injury problems in his career, significantly affecting his consistency and form. This problem continues to be a warning bell as Liverpool head towards the decisive stage of the season.

Fans and the team are currently awaiting the results of medical tests to determine the severity of the injury. If Jones is out for a long time, it will be a big loss when Liverpool have big goals in the Champions League and domestic competitions.
