‘The entire world witnessed it’ – Carlo Ancelotti expresses anger over officiating in Real Madrid’s loss to Espanyol

Real Madrid were left reeling in the 85th minute when Romero capped off Espanyol’s counte by placing the ball past an isolated Thibaut Courtois. However, players from Los Blancos and their associated media are asserting that Romero should have been sent off earlier for his dangerous shin-high challenge on Mbappé. Ancelotti has addressed this issue and criticized referee Muniz Ruiz.

In a media statement, Ancelotti remarked: “The referee and VAR’s decision is baffling. Everyone witnessed it. The priority should be player safety. It was a clear foul and a very dangerous tackle. Thankfully, there was no injury, but that’s what VAR is for. It’s hard for us to understand why a red card wasn’t issued.”
