Amid interest from Saudi Arabia, Vinicius is unwilling to renew his contract with Real Madrid

Vinicius rejects Real Madrid extension amid Saudi Arabian lure

Vinicius Jr has reportedly rejected Real Madrid’s first contract extension amid interest from Saudi Arabia. The Brazilian, who is tied to Los Blancos until 2027, could be tempted to move to the Middle East as clubs prepare to offer lucrative deals to lure the star.

Despite having two years left on his contract, which expires in June 2027, Real Madrid are in talks with Vinicius Junior over a new long-term deal. The 24-year-old has become one of Madrid’s key players over the past few seasons, winning the Champions League, La Liga and Spanish Super Cup with Los Blancos.

With individual accolades such as the FIFA Best Men’s Player award and a Ballon d’Or nomination, the Spanish club are keen to secure Vinicius’ future. However, the Brazilian himself has not seen it that way, having rejected the club’s first offer of a new contract. According to The Athletic, Vinicius and his agent believe Real Madrid’s offer does not “reflect his status as one of the best players in the world”.

It is understood that Vinicius is reluctant to accept the salary offered by the Vultures as it is similar to that of Kylian Mbappe – around €15m net per season. The same source reports that the Brazilian is aiming to become the club’s highest-paid player, ahead of other superstars in the squad such as Jude Bellingham and the same French striker.
