Liverpool are closest to a record 20th Premier League title
Who can stop Liverpool from winning the Premier League? Certainly not Man City, after their 2-0 defeat to their arch-rivals at the Etihad on Sunday. Liverpool are now 20 points clear of fourth-placed City after completing a double over Pep Guardiola’s once dominant side.
And perhaps not Arsenal, who, despite being second in the table, have been wobbly in both form and personnel in the run-in. Their surprise 1-0 home defeat to West Ham on Saturday confirmed that. And after a 2-0 win at the Etihad that virtually made Man City former champions, Liverpool are now 11 points clear of Arsenal at the top – despite the Gunners having played one game less (26 to Liverpool’s 27).
“Special” is how Mohamed Salah described the latest victory, in which he was the hero. The Egyptian star quickly put his team in control at the Etihad after scoring the opener in the 14th minute, finishing from a well-taken corner. It was his 30th goal of an excellent campaign. Salah also provided the assist in the 37th minute for Dominik Szoboszlai’s second. And 2-0 was the final result.
