Before the match started, the two Real Madrid teammates had a friendly handshake. However, when the opening whistle blew, everything changed. In the 86th minute, when the score was 2-0 in favor of the home team Croatia, Mbappe entered the penalty area but was tackled by Modric. Immediately, the French striker fell to the ground, hoping to be awarded a penalty.

However, Modric approached and criticized his junior after the fake dive. The Croatian player expressed his dissatisfaction with this situation, making Mbappe look surprised. Just a few seconds later, the two laughed and hugged each other. Referee Espen Eskas thought Modric had tackled the ball accurately and did not award France a penalty.

In the last match, Modric and Mbappe had contrasting performances. Modric played excellently, dominated the midfield and made an important contribution to Croatia’s 2-0 victory, while Mbappe was unlucky when he missed many scoring opportunities. The Real Madrid striker played the entire match, had 4 shots on target but did not score. He also created 4 scoring opportunities for his teammates.

In addition to Mbappe and Modric, Real Madrid also had two players playing in this match, Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga. Both played hard in the midfield but could not prevent Modric and his teammates from winning.

Budimir and Ivan Perisic were the ones who scored for Croatia. The French team still has a chance to make amends when they play the second leg at home on March 24.
