LeBron James’ 2% ownership of Liverpool F.C. was announced to be painting an honorary cooperation with the Nike Air Max 1 towards the end of 2022. A clad-red design now honors James’ 2011 investment with the Nike LeBron 20 after the LeBron 9 Low was later re-released in September in its opposite look with vivid teal hues.
Similar to the latter silhouette’s “Olive Green” endeavor, the model’s tongue construction is still tried-and-true thanks to its split leather and finely knit tooling, while an all-out wash of suede envelops its outer layer and quarter overlay. The style, which is eerily evocative of the Nike Kobe 9 High KRM EXT “Red Mamba,” also features a snakeskin fabric that claims the pair of double-stacked Swooshes.
The two-toned ensemble highlights its external Check by applying a pitch-black cast to its secondary ornamentation, eschewing the teal accents used in the latter two models. Last but not least, golden dubraes match the heel’s Liverpool F.C. emblem to further anchor the pitch-dark hue along the rarely used lace stitching and semi-translucent tread beneathfoot.
