On Sunday night, Linkin Park paid tribute to their late lead vocalist Chester Bennington.
At the American Music Awards at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, Mike Shinoda, Rob Bourdon, and Brad Delson, the band’s three surviving members, took the stage as the group won Favorite Alternative Rock Artist.
“We want to dedicate this award to Chester, to his memory, to his talent, to his sense of humor, to his joy,” Shinoda stated as they accepted the honor.
“Remember, whether you’re an artist or a fan, I want you to take a moment to be proud of Chester and appreciate what you have,” he continued.
Shinoda also gave credit to Imagine Dragons and other nominees.
I had the opportunity to speak with those guys. who has nothing but positive things to say about Chester. Additionally, they mirrored the comments made by our supporters worldwide.
He ended by saying, “I want to express my gratitude to everyone who voted for the band and who have stood by them through thick and thin.”
Linkin Park even took the audience by surprise at the yearly event because they were thought to be missing by Mark Cuban, who revealed the category winner.
However, when the attractive trio approached the platform and Shinoda started speaking, any worries vanished: “They didn’t know we were going to be here, you guys.” However, we are present.
After hanging himself with a belt at his Palos Verdes Estates in California, Bennington passed himself on July 20 at the age of 41.
their wife, Talinda Bennington, and their six children—two daughters and four sons—were left behind.
After Chester’s passing, Talinda acknowledged in a heartfelt article that her life had become a “sick Shakespearean tragedy.”
“I lost my soulmate, and my kids lost their hero—their dad,” she wrote. Our formerly idyllic existence has now devolved into a horrible Shakespearean tragedy.
At the South Coast Botanical Garden in Palos Verdes Estates, close to the late singer’s residence, Bennington’s family and close friends attended a private funeral.
Following Chester’s suicide, Linkin Park’s surviving members admitted that their music was influenced by Chester’s “demons” and stated that they would never be able to replace him.
Even if we are unsure of our future course, we are certain that you improved everyone of our lives. I appreciate that gift. The statement read, “We miss you so much and we love you.”
