Frontman Brent Smith of SHINEDOWN has commended LINKIN PARK for bringing in Emily Armstrong of DEAD SARA as a new co-vocalist for the latter group.
Smith’s remarks came minutes after LINKIN PARK unveiled their new lineup at a live performance event. Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, Dave “Phoenix” Farrell, and Joe Hahn were joined by Armstrong and Colin Brittain, songwriter and producer for G FLIP, ILLENIUM, and ONE OK ROCK. Additionally, Linkin Park released a new single called “The Emptiness Machine” and revealed that their future album “From Zero” will be available through Warner on November 15. LINKIN PARK’s first full-length album since 2017’s “One More Light”—the band’s final album before lead singer Chester Bennington passed away—will be this one.
“I remember the very first time I heard Emily Armstrong from DEAD SARA sing ‘The Weatherman’,” Smith wrote on social media. I think rock and roll will be alright, I told myself. Therefore, I will state that LINKIN PARK will be more than fine today.
“I am aware that there are a ton of both positive and negative comments from people worldwide on the Internet. Something to consider Are the members of this Iconic Band really of the opinion that Chester Bennington is interchangeable among all individuals? The entire world is aware that he was unique and will never be replaced. Having said that, there are those fans that miss this band, their presence, and what they stand for. So I said to you, EVERYONE… Give them a chance to continue their story. Give them the chance to commemorate their legacy and to start a new one.
“Give’em Hell L.P.” .
Los Angeles, New York, Hamburg, London, Seoul, and Bogota will all be on LINKIN PARK’s six-date stadium tour later this month.
On September 6, members of the LP Underground fan club will be able to purchase tickets in advance for the “From Zero” tour. On September 7, the general sale will begin.
As stated in a news release, Shinoda, Delson, Farrell, and Hahn “quietly began meeting up again in recent years.” They worked with a number of musicians and “found a special kinship with Armstong and Brittain” instead of “trying to restart the band.”
“Before LINKIN PARK, our first band name was XERO,” Shinoda said in a statement on the band’s new lineup and future plans. This album’s title alludes to our modest beginnings as well as the path we are currently on. It embraces our distinctive sound while being fresh and vibrant, and sonically and emotionally it is about the past, present, and future. It was created with a great deal of gratitude for our fans, friends, family, and both new and old bandmates. We are thrilled about the future of LINKIN PARK and proud of what it has grown into over the years.
“The Emptiness Machine” has been stated to “channel the DNA of LINKIN PARK.” “With this new lineup and the vibrant and energized new music we’ve made together,” Shinoda said, the band feels “really empowered.” They are also “weaving together the sonic touchpoints we’ve been known for and still exploring new ones.”
