LeBron James never forgets his roots, building a school and a basketball court at Akron High School, where he rose from a poor kid to the pinnacle of the NBA

On Wednesday, LeBron James returned to school and time.

The NBA player dedicated a rainbow outdoor basketball court at the I Promise School, which he established last year for disadvantaged kids in his hometown, accompanied by four of his high school friends.

James stepped away from his lead in “Space Jam 2,” which is presently in development, to assist his family foundation and spend time with the children.

James seized the microphone and spoke to the children before playing a little pickup game against them, urging them to follow their aspirations just as he and his buddies had.

“This is a basketball court, and we see basketball hoops, but it teaches you so much more than just basketball,” he stated. “To be capable of establishing a sisterhood or brotherhood and producing enduring things.” Many people claim that you will forget things you did in high school. We established a friendship twenty-five years ago, and it remains strong and solid now. This is how we’re paying it forward—giving it back to you folks.”

As James transitioned from an Ohio teenage prodigy to a professional superstar, he was dribbling and passing with the “Fab Five” from St. Vincent-St. Mary High School, who won a state championship and gained national recognition. They included Dru Joyce III, Willie McGee, Romeo Travis, and Sian Cotton.

Dru Joyce, his previous coach, was also present.

James missed a pair of long 3-pointers but dunked to break in one of the new baskets. James is spending over $1 million on various enhancements for the school.

The Los Angeles Lakers will shortly start the 34-year-old’s second season. Last season, James missed the Finals for the first time in nine years, and the club missed the playoffs.

After he appeared on the court, the four-time MVP did not address the reporters.

James and the Akron Public Schools collaborated on the school, which offers at-risk children a supportive learning environment.
