Vinicius Jr. buys second Brazilian club, joins growing list of Real Madrid player-owners
Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr. is expanding his influence beyond the pitch by becoming co-owner of a second football club in Brazil. According to Santi Aouna, Vinicius has completed a deal to purchase a stake in Athletic Club MG, a side currently competing in Brazil’s second division, where they sit 15th on the table.
This move follows Vinicius’ acquisition last year of Alverca, a lower-league Brazilian team, making this his second venture into football ownership.
The 24-year-old forward joins a growing list of active Real Madrid players investing in clubs. Kylian Mbappé is the owner of Caen in France, while Luka Modrić co-owns Swansea City in the English Championship. All three players — Brazilian, French, and Croatian — now double as football club owners while still playing at the highest level for Los Blancos.
Athletic MG will hope Vinicius’ backing brings a new era of ambition and success, both on and off the pitch
